Aim of the course
The course is designed to enable candidates to demonstrate welding skills typically found in industry and associated underpinning knowledge to a level that will enable them to complete welded joints in standard welding positions and prepare them for undertaking qualifications at NVQ level 2 and at level 3.

Practical Skills Learning Outcomes?
Learning Outcome One – produce a butt weld in the PA flat position for MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG
Learning Outcome Two – produce a lap fillet weld in the vertical position for MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG
Learning Outcome Three – produce a tee fillet weld in the vertical position for MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG
Learning Outcome Four – produce a butt weld in the vertical position for MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG
Learning Outcome Five – produce a tube-to-plate tee fillet weld in the PB horizontal/vertical position for MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG
Knowledge Learning Outcomes?
Learning Outcome Six – know the Process and Health & Safety requirements for MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG welding
How am I assessed?
You will produce five practical joints that pass visual inspection and take part in a short oral discussion with your tutor.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this level of study. The course is for total beginners.
Further qualifications
You can progress to another welding process MMA, TIG or MIG or you can proceed to advanced welding course.
Sessions
This course starts at 09:00 to 16:00 Saturday and Sunday (you will be allocated dates on sign up).
Refreshments
This programme has complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water.
