Which level is right for me?

You are new to welding and fabrication industries and want to gain knowledge and experience in either welding, metal fabrication, thermal cutting or brazing & soldering work.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

The Awards and Certificates within this suite of qualifications could help you develop a career in the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering sector. They could lead to several job roles, including:

Learning Outcome Three – produce a tee fillet weld in the PA flat position using TIG
Learning Outcome Four – produce a tee fillet weld in the PB horizontal/vertical position using TIG
Learning Outcome Five – produce a corner weld in the PA flat position using TIG

Knowledge Learning Outcomes?

Learning Outcome Six – know the process and health & safety requirements for metal inert gas (TIG) welding

How is it taught?

The programme is predominantly a practical course delivered in our workshop. It includes all the underpinning knowledge of welding as a profession, as well as the Health & Safety requirements.

Alongside the practical workshop sessions, there is an expectation that you do a small amount of reading and internet research to answer the assessment questions at the end of the course.

How am I assessed?

You will produce five practical joints that pass visual inspection and take part in a short oral discussion with your tutor.
