Coded Welding Qualification Training

As well as our on-site testing at our training centre we can carry out witness of weld procedure & welder qualification testing at our clients premises as an examiner, as well as competent monitoring and validation of welding parameters.

We will work in line with your company requirements to oversee the specification, witness and approval of mechanical and metallurgical testing of welded samples as UKAS approved laboratories.

As a qualified coded welder, you will possess the skills required to work in some of the most highly regulated sectors and on a range of safety-critical applications, pressure vessels and pressure pipework. At The Welding Academy, we can help you gain qualifications in coded MIG/MAG, FCAW, TIG and MMA. Practical training can be delivered at our purpose-built workshop, where you can bring the materials you wish to weld, or we can provide onsite training at your place of employment.

The standards offered include:

  1. BS EN 9606-1
  2. BS EN ISO 9606-2

Welder coding certificates must be signed every six months by a suitably qualified person to confirm the welder is still producing welds of the required standard. You must be formally re-tested at least every two years.

Coded Welder Testing

As well as coded welder training, we are also able to conduct ASME IX or BS EN 9606 welder qualification testing at our sites in the UK. The Welding Academy is fully approved by the TWI (The Welding Institute) to deliver coding qualifications. All of our tutors, examiners, and inspectors at The Welding Academy hold the relevant CSWIP qualifications, allowing us to provide welder qualification testing.

CODED WELDING TESTING BS EN ISO 9606 Tests

This international coding standard is suitable for pressure vessels, pressure pipework and other critical applications, such as bridges and some structural steelwork applications.

These tests are carried out in accordance with welding standard BS EN ISO 9606 and are usually subject to a volumetric inspection, such as radiography or ultrasonic examination. Depending on the particular weld configuration, each test can cover a range of welding variables, for example material thickness and welding positions.
